Privacy policy
Last updated 29 October 2026
Abro keeps the expenses you log so you and your partner see the same picture. We don’t connect to your bank, show ads, track you or sell your data.
Who runs Abro
Abro is run by Brook, an independent developer. For any question or request about your data, email brookgeta@gmail.com.
What we keep
- Your account: your email address, your password and, if you add one, the name your partner sees. Your password is stored as a one-way hash by our sign-in provider. Nobody at Abro can read it. If you continue with Google instead, Google tells us your name, email address and account ID. We never see your Google password.
- What you enter: expenses (amount, reason, category, date and time, who paid, whether it’s personal, and any foreign amount and rate), recurring items, your budget, currency, categories, exchange rates and settings.
- Your household: who is in it, when they joined, and any invite code you create.
- Technical records: our hosting providers keep standard request logs, such as IP address, browser type and time, to run the service and protect it from abuse.
What we don’t do
- No bank connections, card numbers or bank logins.
- No ads, analytics or tracking cookies.
- We never sell your data or share it for advertising.
Who can see it
- You see everything you enter.
- Your partner, once you share a household, sees your shared expenses, recurring items, the budget, the household’s currency and categories, your email and the name you set. They never see expenses you mark as personal. Our server enforces this, not just the app.
- We look at your data only when we need to run or fix the service, when you ask us for help, or when the law requires it.
Where it’s stored
We use a small number of providers who process data for us under their own security and privacy commitments:
- Nhost runs our database and sign-in, and sends account emails. Your data is stored on servers in Frankfurt, Germany.
- Netlify serves the website and app files.
- Google signs you in, if you choose Continue with Google.
On your phone or computer, the app keeps a copy of your data and your sign-in in the browser’s storage, so it opens instantly and works offline. Signing out removes them from that device. We don’t use cookies.
Why we use it
We use your account and what you enter to provide the service you signed up for. We keep request logs because we have a legitimate interest in keeping Abro secure and working.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account (Budget, then Account, then Delete account), your account and everything you added are removed straight away. Your expenses also disappear from your partner’s phone. Copies in our providers’ backups and logs are deleted when those expire, after a short period.
Your choices and rights
- See and take your data: use Export CSV or Back up in the app.
- Correct it: edit any expense you logged.
- Delete it: delete any expense, or your whole account, in the app.
- Anything else: email us. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object, to restrict how we use your data, and to complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Abro is not meant for anyone under 16, and we don’t knowingly keep their data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above. If the change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app or by email first.
